Spring 1

This term has been a super busy one. We have been working hard to produce texts to persuade in our English lessons with wand advertisments linked to one of our core texts - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. We have been adding to our vocabulary tree with words such as 'smithereens' and 'jocular' as well as developing our grammatical understanding through learning about determiners, the progressive tense and many more aspects that we have then been trying to include in our writing.

In our Maths, we have continued to focus on areas such as fractions and percentages as well as area and perimeter and have also been working hard on our arithmetic skills.

In History, our focus has been on WW2 and we have really got stuck in to learning about the Treaty of Versailles and some of the main causes of WW2. We have also learnt about evacuation and are now starting to look at what life was like for people living in Cannington and Bridgwater, putting together booklets to go in our school library for others to read.

Internet Safety Day

On Tuesday 11th February we looked at how to stay safe when on the internet as well as what to do if we ever see something that makes us feel uncomfortable or worried. We used an online post-it note website to discuss how we felt about these questions...

  • Will AI make people’s lives better?
  • Are people kinder online than they used to be?
  • Are changes in technology making people happier?

In Willow, we have also been working exceptionally hard on our writing this term and creating lots of great writing across the whole curriculum!
