The Quantock Group
In 2013 schools in and around the entrance to the Quantock Hills came together to formalise a collaborative partnership in order to improve outcomes, share good practice and combine our knowledge, skills and resources for the benefit of our pupils, thus The Quantock Group was formed.
We work closely in partnership, focusing on curriculum, leadership and progression through transition. Each Headteacher takes responsibility to support the work of various phase groups and to drive improvements through a shared development plan. We challenge and support the progress of each other’s schools in order to provide ‘critical and reflective’ practice. All teaching staff belong to phase groups, according to the key stage in which they teach, meeting each term to moderate work, share ideas and develop their own skills.
This approach is helping us to secure at least good teaching across our group of schools. We currently employ a primary and a secondary practitoner to drive our joint progression project, focused on ensuring pupils leaving key stage 2 are enabled to build on previous learning at a good pace.
This project has provided opportunities for colleagues in primary and secondary phases to spend time observing and working alongside one another in order to prepare and receive our children in the most positive way possible.
